Bryan Hill Elementary School

Opened in 1911, Bryan Hill Elementary School serves the College Park neighborhood.

Bryan Hill School: School building, November 1938, Missouri History Museum, P0900-19706-01-4p

Designed by William Ittner, it is squeezed into a narrow parcel of land, making photographs of the building difficult.

Named after Dr. John Gano Bryan, a famous educator in the late Nineteenth Century, that appellation still does not explain the “Hill” portion. Perhaps it merely refers to its location in College Hill.

It follows a traditional Tudor Revival or Jacobethan style in the design.

As is typical, the back of the building is unadorned.

Our City was so gifted with these talented architects and a high level Board of Ed. , business owners and civic leaders and scholars . This is truly a masterpiece of reminiscent Tudor Gothic, almost as large as Richmond Palace and possibly more balanced . We owe it to the future to save these .
