What is the purpose of that sort-of baptismal font on the side of the structure?
I just learned recently that is actually a flower pot, and not where Busch family members are baptized. That is an urban myth.
good afternoon chris and merry Christmas. I heard a rumor when I lived on cherokee st. that when lighting damaged the copper steeple with a major crack, the family chose to have it recast instead of repaired. this would have been 20 years ago.
Merry Christmas to you, too, Dan! I talked with Bellefontaine, and back in 2006 the mausoleum did sustain a small amount of damage and some stone was relaid, and a portion of the spire was recast. It apparently is not a very well known story!
