Cote Brilliante Avenue, Revisited Again

Update: I went back in the early summer of 2021.

Great news! As of November of 2020, the house above is still for sale, like it was back in April of 2019, and the monthly payment is only $37. Someone is keeping the grass mowed, at least. I was first shown this street back in April of 2013.

Note the pumpkin on the front porch of the house above. This block is still suffering under the effects of out-of-town land speculators, who buy up property and then sit on it.

There are still many people living on this block, but when they can’t find the owners of the deteriorating properties next door to them because the owner of record is an LLC, what can they do?

The views are getting longer and longer due to demolition of those out-of-town owners.

isn’t there something the city can do like impose fines etc. to encourage these speculators not to sit on the properties and let them fall in?

There are laws, but oftentimes residents are not aware of the options available to them. We all need to do a better job of educating our neighbors in how they can fight back against slumlords.
