Years ago, I asked some of my students who live in North St. Louis about that intriguing Modernist hotel on Kingshighway just north of Natural Bridge Avenue. In response, one of my students replied, “That’s not a hotel, that’s a motel; that place is so sleazy they charge by the minute, not by the hour.”

I had a really bad experience here, and reccomend NO human being on this earth to live or stay here for a night or a week or more….. 250 a week. I am a clean person. Location was convenient at the time. Turns out room was infested with bed bugs.. If you have never experienced somthing like this, im here to tell you we were living in a nightmare. The middle-eastern owner has an attiude amd acts if it is no issue and did not even attempt to help us w a refund. He promised a new room til the week was done but never did it. The manager he has hired is nice and hardworking and I personally feel sorry for him. He is overworked and he puts him up w having to give the bad news to me that we are not changing rooms… i could go on and on. its the worst experience i have ever had in my life. Also turns out I was severly allergic to the bites and beecause of the location had terrible enciunter w ems until the hospital saw my vitals and swelling on body and hives were so bad
The place is a haven for prostitutes and drug dealers. Drug users like it too.
That’s what I’ve heard. Would you believe that back in the 1960s it was a place where lots of famous St. Louisans hung out? Apparently there was a nightclub attached to it.
Our family always stayed there back in the late 60’s and early 70’s when we came to visit family.
Interesting! I have heard it had a restaurant, as well. Do you remember it?
