I have no idea where I found this, but looking around on my computer one day I found this fascinating map of Cherokee Cave, which was a tourist attraction up until the 1950’s when its public entrance was demolished for the construction of I-55.

Hey Tim, I think I just saw you shooting on Thursday evening.
I visited Cherokee Cave as a preteen around 1952 or so. While it was sorta exciting, being underground and all that – I thought it was pretty kitschy, just a step or two above those roadside “zoos” found along highways way back when.
I guess I was a jaded and cynical 12-year old?
