College Avenue, College Hill

After leaving Bellefontaine Cemetery, I hung a left on College Avenue in the College Hill neighborhood, which I haven’t really looked at much lately.

While there is a lot of abandonment and demolition, there are some people who are not giving up, and as seen below, have doubled down on their commitment to their home.

These two below look sharp, as well.

I looked at the 2000 block of College Avenue back in April of 2019, which seems like a lifetime ago when I think about it. And it had just snowed?! Maybe the photos were actually from March.

Sadly, that amazing half flounder below, which was burned out back in 2019, is still sitting empty and desolate. I know it’s one of many people’s favorite houses in St. Louis.

And oh God, there are these people from out of town who think their God’s gift to St. Louis, who are rehabbing houses in North St. Louis, and the final result is below. Yes, that is illegal to have a window that small in a living space besides a bathroom for egress purposes.

That house with the stockade was recently on Zillow for sale for almost $300K. It was completely redone and very unique inside.

      Interesting…do you have a link?

It’s gone now. But it was active a month ago. I hope it sold as someone put in a lot of work.

At least that Grey house is probably liveable inside. Better than nothing.

      Well…it’s not up to code…
