Apparently I have never photographed the sad and depopulated stretch of Dodier Street just to the east of Parnell Avenue, which is the main artery that peals off from North Jefferson Avenue (which becomes a quiet two lanes street to the west of here).

I hadn’t realized just how bad of shape this twelve-family had gotten.

It looks like it might have been ravaged by a fire.

The eastern third has been gutted, left open to the sky.

The end of the block is a positive note, and I’ve looked at it in the past. I’ve actually met the owner of the buildings on the left below, who owns them all together and keeps them well maintained.

wow… sad sad. I grew up in the 60’s-70’s across the street from that apartment building. Rode my bike up and down those streets many summers. When I was old enough, I mowed the lawn of that apartment complex one summer, . Lived in the house from the first picture with one of my friends, around 1979-1981. His grandmother passed and left it to him. Used Google earth to roam the streets.. see the main building I lived in is gone. 2522 E Dodier. along with most of the other ones.
I was also surprised how rough this block had gotten, as well.
Hi Steve and Chris, read this post with interest, I am looking for info about 2511 W. Dodier-on the other side of Parnell and not a lot left on that street. I have the Sanborns, searched newspapers.com, MoHist and have some info that it may have made it to the 90’s, now the empty lot is owned by McKee. Really want a picture of the building (many family lived there 1900) – anyone at Northside Regen ever keep photo records and shares? Wild question 🙂 Thanks for sharing and researching what we do still have.
