As I mentioned offhand on Sunday, October 25, I had passed by the former Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church when I looked at San Francisco Avenue in Penrose. I decided to go back and take a closer look at the damage.

To put it bluntly, it is not good. A warehouse that had been helping low income residents burned down, and all the buildings on the campus had lost roof shingles.

Just about all of the windows had been blown out by the tornado except for the ones on the east front facade.

I did not see any evidence of attempts to secure or cover the openings.

The most severe damage was the loss of the back wall of the apse, leaving the roof exposed and certainly now prone to further damage in high winds.

The former parish school has been severely damaged. I sound like a broken record.
