Former West Belleville Township High School

Update: The City of Belleville bought the high school campus back from the university and is converting it into an training center and office complex.

Originally opened in 1916, the old West Belleville Township High School served the entire community, before the size of the population necessitated the breaking off and creation of the East Belleville Township High School in 1966. The old West Belleville closed in 2002 with the construction of the new one on Frank Scott Parkway.

A local university attempted to create a new campus in the building for over a decade, but its efforts came to an end in the summer of 2020. The future of the massive campus and its buildings are now up in the air, as is the future of West Belleville.
