Frisco Railroad Station, South Webster, Revisited

Way back in March of 2011 I took one really bad photograph of the Frisco Railroad Station that once served the South Webster section of Webster Groves, so I thought it was time to come back and revisit it as well as the area.

The South Webster station was one of three Frisco lines stops that served Webster Groves on the railroad.

This one was the last; the previous two, going backwards was Selma and Old Orchard, the latter of which we’ll talk about tomorrow.

The Frisco Railroad opened this station around 1884, and stylistically I think it’s possible that this is the original building. If anyone knows better, let me know.

This end probably dealt with freight, while the opposite end, which we already looked at, was where passengers waited.

If you look carefully, you can see the skyscrapers of downtown St. Louis off in the distance. It is logical as of course the railroad took the straightest and least inclined route out of the city.
