Gravois Avenue from Ellenwood to Taft Avenues, Bevo

We’ll take one last look at the building on the southwest corner, and then continue on northeast up Gravois Avenue.

We’ve actually looked at this building before because it was once attached to a movie theater to the right, back in October of 2020.

The newer mid-Twentieth Century buildings such as the one below replaced old wood frame houses, which were still standing in the early 1900s. I suspect those older houses may have been miners’ homes, which I examined last month.

The storefront below may be one of the survivors.

There is a strange mishmash of commercial buildings and parking lots, along with dormant billboards on the other side of the street.
