Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Bloomington, Illinois

Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church is a masterpiece of Art-Deco architecture for worship spaces. Designed by Arthur F. Moratz, the church was built in 1934 with insurance money when the original structure burned down. Presaging Modernism, the church still shows the influences of traditional architecture. Bloomington is not a bishopric, which surprised me, but surely this is the grandest Roman Catholic church in the city.

Cool church. I don’t think I have ever seen a church in the art deco style. Are churches in this style rare?

Yeah, I would say so, definitely. This one was only built due to an unexpected fire. And even rarer to build one this large.

There are a handful in Chicago, see link:

Not on this list website is St. Genevieve in Chicago, another great Deco church.

There was a service going on and my camera makes a loud noise when it takes a photo.
