Hyde Park in the Morning Light #2, Clay School

Clay School is alive and well, and has received Prop S dollars to keep the building up to date. I hope it stays open for a long time.

Its striking front entrance portal, complete with a colonnaded pediment above, welcomes you to the building.

No detail is left unnoticed. It was designed by famed St. Louis architect, William Ittner, in 1905.

Details even incorporate the monogram of the school, CS, into an ornamental railing.

Even the side of the school receives careful treatment in stone and brick ornament.

Absolutely gorgeous. I too hope it stays in use for another 100+ years.
