JeffVanderLou, Early June 2019, Part 2

Howard Street is almost completely abandoned, as I had seen in May of 2017. In the background, you can see Madison Street, where I met Dan, way back in December of 2013. I do find some interesting little gems, like this back half-flounder, whose “front house” was just probably never built. I also photographed it in May of 2014.

There are a couple of houses that are holding out, but there is no support from City Hall.

Then we get to those amazing houses sitting right before Jefferson Avenue.

In magical fantasy land, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency employees and their families are going to buy these houses, fix them up, put their kids in charter schools and walk to work. And probably sing “Kumbaya” a couple of times.

The proud African American churches hold on.
