Labadie Avenue, West of Newstead, The Greater Ville

Update: Edited to reflect that this school is privately owned, not City-owned; also, includes information from community members. The play equipment was moved to a new playground by the summer of 2020.

A recently abandoned Modernist school building has newer playground equipment. A community member contacted me and let me know the play equipment replaced an older out-of-date metal set.

Further down Labadie, most of the houses are abandoned and in severe state of deterioration.

But look at this beautiful four-family, similar to one on Shenandoah in Fox Park.

What is the address associated with this property?

    1. Chris Naffziger says:

Ms. Wallace, I assume you are referring to the school building? It is 4430 Labadie, just west of Newstead. If you’re referring to another property, please let me know.

  2. I attended day care on this property as a child. It was called “The Learning Tree Day Care and Nursery.” It was a wonderful place with an awesome playground and sandbox.

Thanks for sharing, Chaunta! Is it the same play equipment, or older things that have been replaced?

@Chris Naffziger. That is new equipment. The original was mostly constructed of iron. Very old school.

Thanks for the info, Ms. Black. Are children able to use the play equipment?
