I looked at Maple Avenue between Hodiamont Avenue and Maple Place briefly way back in December of 2015, but now we’ll look more closely. First up, above, is an interesting story, and it took a bit of sleuthing to show that indeed this building sat right here at one (it’s long gone now). Kerpan’s was also located at one point at the intersection of Vandeventer and Chouteau and was later demolished for a QuikTrip.

Moving to the east, there has been in-fill, some built through HUD and other agencies.

But we can see what a beautiful neighborhood it was before the government came in and started demolishing everything.

There has been renewed interest in the neighborhood and rehabbing, and I hope that someone gets to these beautiful and neglected original buildings in time.

I’m fine with residents simplifying some of the ornament on historic homes if it means that they will stay occupied.

We reach Maple Place, which is where the De Hodiamont House is located to the south of where this two-family is located.
