McNair Avenue in Benton Park runs through a very old part of the neighborhood, laid out early on through an area that was actually a French land claim known as the DeVolsey Tract. It was also subdivided as the Kingsbury Addition.

As is typical of the neighborhood, the housing stock is a mix of the old and new, and judging from old views of the area, much of the original housing from the1860s was torn down and replaced in the late Nineteenth Century.

I found this one story duplex, one of a pair, interesting. The whole front wall has been completely rebuilt and I wonder how much of the house is original.

At the end of the block is Blues City Deli on the corner with Victor Street. There is no parking lot, but yet they thrive and get along fine with the neighbors.
