After checking out the West End, I realized I was close to that block of Minerva Avenue I liked so much, so I thought it was time to see how it was doing.

The answer: not good. Compared to the first time I saw the block, which is now eleven(!) years ago in January of 2015, it seems like several buildings have been demolished, are vacant, or damaged by fire. I also looked at the block in September of 2019 and November of 2020.

There are still a few buildings that seem to be occupied, but for the most part, I suspect that many are vacant.

On a bright note, the ones above are in great shape and well-maintained. As a reminder, Hempstead Elementary, which was damaged by fire well over a decade ago, is still standing and salvageable across the street.
