There’s always something about a vacant house that just instinctually you recognize.
No curtains in the window, even though the glass is intact, the piles of phone books.

While it is good to see these houses renovated, there is something about vinyl replacement windows that is inherently depressing. The loss of the graceful, segmentally arched, sash on the first floor of 3009 is significant – especially on a relatively simple facade such as this. Thankfully, the original sash survives on the second floor. That patterned brick cornice is very nice; what a contrast to the bleak first floor! At least the place is no longer boarded up.
