What I love about Bellefontaine Cemetery is all the serendipitous discoveries I make, such as stumbling upon the Adolf (or Adolph) Moll monument and his large family plot on the northern edge of the cemetery.
It turns out he was the scion of a grocery store business, which had one of its last locations at the corner of Delmar and DeBaliviere, demolished presumably for the Ruth Porter Mall.
While the face is heavily eroded, it is clearly the same man in the picture at this website explaining the history of the Moll Grocery Store. I can’t help but notice the similarities with the Obert Monument in New Marcus Cemetery.
