North Twenty-First Street is another street lined with wonderful houses, and many buildings are still occupied as we head up the hill towards North Grand Boulevard.

Now this house below is really interesting. It is surely one of the oldest houses in Hyde Park, and was built before street grading was finished, as the basement is now exposed above grade.

Sadly, again there is so much abandonment.

The photo below might be one of the most striking I have taken in a long time. It captures the sense of what much of North St. Louis has become, sadly.

The white Grand Water Tower comes into view.

Before we reach Grand, we pass this colorful daycare and this church that I’ve looked at before. There still seems to be nothing happening with it.

Chris, God bless you for this. Yesterday, 1107 North Park Place was demolished and the marble pillars that were still gleaming through 121 years were removed.
I live in Hyde Park in a home built in 1884 and my heart breaks daily when I think of the exquisite beauty of the architecture that is ignored yet Hyde Park keeps asking for more grant money.
I knew if you when I was a lowly Art Museum employee 16 years ago.
