Supposedly they were going to tear down this church. It looks like it’s still standing to me. It has not been condemned, it has not had a demolition permit pulled for it, the congregation registered at the address is a non-profit in good standing with the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, and they have a picture of the church posted on their website. I say that this beautiful church is safe and sound. Interestingly, the sanctuary was extended to engulf was what originally a freestanding house along Nineteenth Street.
Make sure to join me today, Thursday, February 21st at 10:30 AM for my lecture on the St. Louis Place neighborhood as part of Johnny Rabbit’s “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” in the Lee Auditorium at the Missouri History Museum.
