Old Louisville, Part Three

Finishing up the Old Louisville neighborhood, we encounter older houses, including one from the Second Empire and also several from the Italianate style.

Three story Italianate townhouses such as these were once common in St. Louis, but they are now almost entirely erased in urban renewal. It is interesting to see how these houses would have looked in other cities near St. Louis such as Louisville.

We see another one of those sort of French Gothic Revival city houses, as well. These were probably built by the same builder.

This apartment building door has some amazing tile work.

We’ll leave Louisville now and head across the Ohio River to the Midwest.
