Old Survivor, Rehabbed, Adam Lemp’s Addition

I have some good news to report on a house that I suspect dates back to the 1850s or 60s on South 18th Street, formerly Lux Street in the heart of the old Adam Lemp Addition. When I looked at the house back in March of 2022 (seventh photo down), it was sitting abandoned.

But it’s been rehabbed and is now occupied, which is a great thing for a house that very well could have been built only a few years after Adam Lemp subdivided and sold lots in his 9.7 acres he bought directly from the City of St. Louis in the Commons for $970. Now we just need to see the house directly to the south (seen in the sixth photo down in March of 2022) receive a rehabilitation, as it is probably just a little bit newer than its older neighbor.
