I always loved this house in Hyde Park, but I was worried it would eventually be demolished. Much to my delight, due to a government grant, it has been completely renovated and is occupied.
A Blog detailing the beauty of St. Louis architecture and the buildup of residue-or character-that accumulates over the course of time.
First off: EFF YEAH! Second: sad about its neighbor. Third: Hyde Park was set to explode in 1986, ready to be THE next neighborhood to undergo a large amount of rehab, like Soulard and Lafayette Sq. Until DICK Gephardt and the 1986 Tax Reform Act brought almost the entirety of rehabbing and historic restoration in St. Louis (and elsewhere) to a screeching halt. Thanks, DICK Gephardt.
