Rutger Street Between Ohio and South Jefferson Avenues

Moving north up to Rutger Street in the old Staniford Addition from 1863, we again see some very old houses from easily the 1870s.

This block in particular perhaps has the most houses preserved.

Rutger was originally Sarah Street. It is perhaps obvious why these streets were renamed with names from further to the east in the street standardization of the 1880s due to their repetitions with other major streets elsewhere in the city.

Again, there are some very early examples of the Italianate style.

This duplex below is an incredible survivor, and alludes to what probably was lost in the largescale demolitions in the Compton Hill neighborhood.

A couple of buildings from the Lamont Addition of 1858 survive down on the end near Ohio Avenue which can be seen here.
