Back in mid-August, I discovered the peaceful and architecturally rich streets southwest of the intersection of South Grand Boulevard and Meramec Street (you can start looking at those posts here).

I came back to explore some more, this time first looking at South 37th Street. Numbered streets west of Jefferson Avenue are a bit rare in the southern half of the city, so it’s a bit odd to see them with this high of a number.

I love these little Arts and Crafts bungalows wrought in brick, for lack of a better description of their style.

St. Louis builders were always quick to muddle the lines between distinct styles.

One thing that stands out are the large front porches, broad and often taking up the breadth of the house.

Crossing Bingham Avenue, the style of the houses change a bit.

Now the roofline expands upward, allowing for a true half story, and a prominent dormer appears.

Some porch roofs are gabled while others are shed roofs.
