St. Mark’s Lutheran

Kingshighway, Oak Grove, Northside 033

From 1882 to 1921, St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church met here, before moving on to Clayton. This area was once known as Piety Hill, due to the large number of churches in what is now called Midtown. The houses of the wealthy residents who helped pay for all of these stately structures are gone, but most of the churches remain. This church is a very strange design, and I suspect it has been modified over the years.
