I thought I would check up on how the former St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church was doing six months after the severe fire that struck in the depths of winter.
The answer: not very good.
There has been little change other than the dramatic growth of plants, trees and other vegetation up the sides of the church.
Even worse, the beautiful school building behind the church, not shown, is in the process of losing its back wall to structural collapse.
Good photos of a melancholy subject . I think those are pink slate roof tiles ? Hard to duplicate today. Once were on the old Convent of the Visitation massive building by Tom Barnett. This recalls Wm. Butler Yeats’ thoughts ” The weak lay hand on what the strong have done; ‘Til that be tumbled which was lifted high;

lie ! Many sites in Ireland look like St. Mark’s
