Taylor Avenue, The Grove

Update: See a church on Taylor Avenue from a post from October of 2018.

Taylor Avenue through the Grove has a rich variety of architectural styles, with a large number of apartment buildings and other multi-family buildings.

Each house is clearly the same plan, but the details vary–increasingly so as certain architectural elements deteriorate or are removed.

I love the color of the brick in the building below–it sticks out compared to the uniform brick in the neighborhood.

Little details, like the gentle curve of the pediment on this building make for visual interest.

Nor surprisingly, for privacy’s sake, the apartments are built up above the street level almost a full story, their basements pretty much above ground.
