This house is much older than the surrounding early Twentieth Century “suburban” houses that were built around here. The city’s records say 1884, but as I often tell people, I strongly suspect that city officials started filling in dates of construction in the mid-1880s for older buildings, as I have documentation of many structures that are much older than their listings of 1883-85 dates in city records. But nonetheless, it is a wonderful survivor of when this was out in the country. It sits just east of Newstead on Ashland.
