The Last House, N. 20th Street, St. Louis Place

Update: This house seems to have been demolished.

I don’t know why, but I have come to find this house fascinating in its ability to survive urban disinvestment, redevelopment and abandonment.

It sits on a small parcel of land, backing up to new in-fill houses that face St. Louis Place Park, and for whatever reason, it has not been demolished. The plywood looks relatively new, as well.

It has a half flounder service out back, as well. But it does not look like it is in very good shape, and has started to collapse.

And then there’s still this garage left just to the south.

My wife grew up early years 2311 University St. Are there any photos before it was demolished.

This is what I’ve photographed on University Street. I think the last two buildings (now demolished) are on either side of 2311 or may be 2311.

My wife days they look familiar. Her house was turned into 2 family with huge side porch.
We did drive by the area & it looks like a bomb was dropped.

Thank you for your research and information. Wife lived in North & South City.
She live with parents M/M Ray Haselhorst. Her dad worked for Freund Bakery. The 4 family flat on Chouteau still stands. That was 1st home she recalls.
