Union and Confederate Monuments, Forest Park

The German-American General Franz Sigel, like many St. Louisans, fought for the Union in the Civil War.

It’s very clear from the inscription where many St. Louisans saw their role in the Civil War.

Update: The Confederate Monument was dismantled and removed in June of 2017; its current whereabouts are unknown. Confederate Drive was removed per the Forest Park Master Plan of 1995.

The Confederate is about a quarter mile away in Forest Park.

It’s tucked away on Confederate Drive.
