Wedgwood West

I’ll divide Wedgwood into three parts; the first day today will feature Wedgwood West, named after the main street which extends west from New Halls Ferry Road.

As can be seen, and in other cases with North County developments, Henry Mizuki was brought in to photograph the idealized interiors of model homes.

To say these images are invaluable to understand the furnishings and lifestyle of the time period would be an understatement.

The houses are ranches, and for the most part, there are just a handful of different models repeated over and over again, but with enough assortment to not create repitition.

Brick color also comes in a wide variety.

Garages appear on the front facade or sometimes perpendicular.

Interestingly, there are some one car garages opposed to the more common two car garages which predominate.
