A major milestone is coming up soon here at St. Louis Patina, and I was curious if readers had particular favorite posts they liked or were their favorite. Copy and paste the URL in the comments section.
A Blog detailing the beauty of St. Louis architecture and the buildup of residue-or character-that accumulates over the course of time.
Believe it or not, this is a very tall order. “Favorite”, almost all of them. Even the Further Afield are some of them. Sorry, I wish I was more help.
I’ve referred back to this one many times: https://stlouispatina.com/charless-street-at-gravois-avenue-mckinley-heights/
This was a newer favorite in how it made me think about old cemeteries: https://stlouispatina.com/western-lutheran-cemetery-desecration/
This was another standout that inspired me to take a field trip: https://stlouispatina.com/about-that-lynch-guy/
I also think the entire St. Augustine series (https://stlouispatina.com/tag/st-augustine-church/) is worthy of a highlight but especially this one: https://stlouispatina.com/roof-collapse-st-augustines/
And this wins for best title: https://stlouispatina.com/coming-soon-nothing-north-13th-street/
My absolute favorite of all of your posts was the one regarding the former Ursuline convent because it is a building with which I am familiar, having driven in front of it dozens of times, but never really appreciated what should have been obvious. What made it even more fascinating was seeing how the entire complex evolved and then was altered.
Not sure why url did not attach. https://stlouispatina.com/st-joseph-croatian-catholic-church-and-former-ursuline-convent/
A strange combination – photos of Tazewell County IL because I have in laws there, and things from Baden, Spanish Lake and the like. I also love the random cemeteries and “what was there before” type things (which are not necessarily posts but maybe your comments).
I selfishly love the posts about Benton Place and Lafayette Square.
Selfishly, because they showcase the homes of my ancestors, Cynthian Desloge and George Bain.
Eventually Bain’s family occupied other homes and I learned about those, too.
Those posts were a great starting point to take me further into your site.
Remarkable work!
Thank you so much for your voice, your knowledge and your generosity.
