After the Tornado: The Greater Ville, Revisited

The Greater Ville was hit hard, so badly, and much worse than I conveyed three weeks ago. The northern part of the neighborhood was largely intact, with a little bit of abandonment, and now almost every house has been damaged, and many completely destroyed.

Below is Marcus Street, on the west side of Western Lutheran Cemetery.

The roofs have been ripped off buildings and parapets knocked off.

Below, we are now heading east looking at the south side of the 4400 block of Lexington Avenue east of North Taylor Avenue. I looked at the block back in January of 2019, and you can recognize many of the same houses before and after the tornado.

Starting with the collapsed storefront above, we are now heading west on Ashland Avenue west of Newstead Avenue looking at the south side of the street, which is the 4400 block. I looked at it back in January of 2019, and the purple house below stood out on my initial visit. It is destroyed now.

The view below is looking south down North Taylor Avenue.

Next we pass onto the 4500 block of Ashland Avenue, which has been devastated. Compare it now to what it looked like in January of 2019.

As unpleasant at these photos show, your work at preserving this is so important for the future; uncertain as it is.

I know I have posted this before, it deserves repeating for those who may not have seen it.

    Thanks, Chris.

My sister is questioning this. Is it true? https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1A4U1uiRN8/?mibextid=wwXIfr
