Benton Park West, Revisited

I’m continually blown away by the sheer variety of housing styles and the creativity of the brickwork in the neighborhoods south of Gravois and west of Jefferson.

Really the northern part of Dutchtown, it’s now known as Benton Park West, and Cherokee Street runs right through the middle of it.

Once a largely German neighborhood, as evidenced by old businesses such as Oscar Schneider Studio, it now is inhabited by people from all over the world.

Update: Globe Drugs closed shortly after this photograph was taken.

Old institutions like Globe Drugs have left in the last couple of years, but I know new institutions are already starting to take their place.
