Update: Renovated beautifully into apartments, as I wrote about here.
The 1895 Brown Mansion creates a beautiful example of Italian Renaissance architecture. The classical pediment and Ionic columns frame the entrance.
The central window on the second floor, or piano nobile, reminds one of the choir lofts of Florence Cathedral in spirit if not in form.
The well balanced, symmetrical facade contrasts nicely with all of the anti-classical architecture of the Romanesque Revival in Grand Center. The lunette lintels on the second floor allude to Michelangelo.
