Dutchtown, Mid May 2017

Dutchtown is such a beautiful neighborhood. It has very little demolition, the houses are are in good shape, and the population is still very high–it is one of the densest areas of the city.

But abandonment is creeping in, and the forces of urban blight could threaten this neighborhood.

These houses below are very old, sitting back from the street. Likewise, the house on the left received an interesting Arts and Crafts porch sometime in the early Twentieth Century.

And oh my, what a find! A Romanesque Revival wood frame house! These are super rare, and should be preserved. The house looks occupied. I wrote about Gothic Revival cottages from this time period a while back.
