Farmstead, Surrounded by Highways

We spotted this farmhouse, which had received some more decorative millwork but is still essentially a Greek Revival wood frame structure, sitting on a rapidly shrinking plot of land on St. Peters Parkway, just to the north of the Page Avenue Extension.

What is interesting is that fair number of outbuildings are still standing.

I’m particularly interested in the brick building. I am wondering if it was built as a smokehouse, as there is a chimney. It wouldn’t make sense as an ice house.

This is St Peters, 3401 N St Peters Pkwy. I believe it is still an operating farm. Not sure whether the house is occupied.

I walk past this house when I go to work. The other buildings are in poor condition. Barns look like they’re dry rotted. The vehicles there have been in the same position for months. I have yet to see one in a different position. The house itself is in bad shape on the outside. When I’m able to get a ride at night, I did see something interesting. The lower far left window. You can see a light is on. I don’t know if anyone lives in the house. I’ve pondered this question myself. It’s possible the house is abandoned, however, that doesn’t make sense due to the light you can see at night. Perhaps the owners passed away in the house? Possible since none of the vehicles have moved any, if at all. However, if that was the case, you’d think the electric company would turn off the electric due to lack of payment on the bill. Another possibility is that maybe homeless squatters are living in the house. It’s probably unlikely, but still a possibility. I could go on about possibilities, but I won’t. I thought I would give my remarks about this house. I was looking it up to see if it was considered abandoned and came across this site. If my remarks were helpful, I am pleased I could help. I feel I’m not the only one curious about this house.
