Update: The property had been purchased with the intention of being renovated into a hotel by the winter of 2022. But then Hoffman put the property up for sale in October of 2023. It was purchased by a local couple that is now restoring the property.
Fast forward to the spring of 2021, and the Emmaus Homes are vacant, and due to a recent auction of the property are in the hands of a new owner. The bridge over the creek that separates the buildings from the road is chained shut and there is a “no trespassing” sign blocking any further entrance.
I’m not sure who will purchase this property to use it in the future. The site is isolated, down a very narrow road in Warren County?to the east of Marthasville. The structures are indeed historic, and I hope that someone finds a use for it. Missouri Preservation has put it on its Most Endangered List.

Here’s your answer on what’s going on in Marthasville: https://www.stltoday.com/business/local/napa-valley-near-st-louis-investor-plotting-100m-revamp-to-turn-augusta-into-national-destination/article_d49e7a57-8a2e-5380-8122-5e3f67dde300.html
I read that! We’ll see if he closes the deal.
Thank you for this one, Chris. My sister lived a portion of her life there.
