Gravois Avenue Between Duke Street and Morgan Ford Road, Bevo

Let’s pass by Duke Street, which I have to admit I’d never heard of before because there are so many short one or two block long streets in this part of Bevo that branch off Gravois Avenue. I think it is probably due to the relatively rugged terrain of the old Christy Estate.

But as I’ve mentioned now several times, it provides easy access up to the shops and businesses along Gravois, as well as easy transportation routes to other parts of the city.

Bosnian businesses still line the street, even if some have moved.

The Chamber of Commerce apparently is still here.

While many immigrants have followed the normal path to the suburbs, the stores have stayed behind, at least for the time being. I have seen many Bosnian stores opening in South County, particularly in Lemay.

It was such a hazy day when I took photos and I left the images with the same impression of how the sky and light looked as I walked along the busy street.

We then reach the intersection with Morgan Ford, which I looked at back in March of this year.

There use to be a house around Duke and Morganford that they actually moved it onto Delor Street back in the seventies.
