High Above Downtown Clayton

I was visiting an office in the taller of the two Centene office buildings on some business and I was able to snap some photos of the panorama afforded me from the twenty-first floor. We start by looking to the northwest.

To the north you can just barely see the spires of the Old St. Vincent’s. Remember, you can click on all photos on this website to see the full size images.

We don’t know what the smoke was from. The employees in the office told me they have an easy view of such events on a regular basis for obvious reasons.

Due east, we can see downtown and the Gateway Arch off in the distance. The smoke in this instance was a controlled burn in Forest Park.

Looking to the southeast, we can see the Ritz Carlton and the tallest residential building in St. Louis County that I know of, the Plaza in Clayton Condominiums.

Down below is the parking garage.

The Clayton I grew up in from 1958 to 1966 isn’t the Clayton of today. I’m not saying it’s worse (or better). The Laclede tower was constructed during the time I lived there. The Shaw Park Ice Skating Rink was a welcome addition, too. I’m glad that the like of Polo Drive and Davis Place don’t change. It’s all still my home, but it doesn’t look or feel the same in Downtown. Thank you, Chris for these memories.

Those are some very fine views from the taller of two Centene office buildings. 🙂

The building on the left when looking towards downtown that used to be a Famous Barr. Have you photographed that building? I didn’t find anything in my search of your posts.
