Julian Avenue Between Hamilton Avenue and Goodfellow Boulevard, West End

Exterior view of the St. Paul AME (African Methodist Episcopal) Church at the corner of Julian Avenue and Hamilton Boulevard, 1940-1970, Missouri History Museum, P1180-00017.

The first thing we see at the corner of Julian and Hamilton avenues is this nice church, and then we head east.

A block west on Julian Avenue from the concrete block houses I looked at back in March of 2022 are houses that are more indicative of the West End as you move further north towards Page Boulevard.

The topography is almost rugged, and the street goes up a steep hill.

There is even a house I might describe as Second Empire Revival; it was not built in the Nineteenth Century and it is clearly stylistically different from its forebears. Sadly, it is vacant.

Houses also seem to be built in tracts, and are not individuals like we see further to the south.

While there is some abandonment, overall the block is doing well.
