Museum Hill, Part One, St. Joseph

East of the civic center of St. Joseph, the terrain rises quickly up to what is now called Museum Hill, which is a veritable treasure trove of late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century housing styles.

There are also many churches near the bottom of the hill.

Look at how much the houses to the east of the Christian Scientist Church have been renovated since they were photographed in the past.

There are many red brick houses, often in the Romanesque Revival.

But then there are whole streets of abandonment.

There are beautiful views out over the Missouri River Valley, as well, which these houses below can enjoy, restored to their original appearance.

This might be one of the best examples anywhere of the Second Empire below.
