Tucked up in a wedge north of downtown Birmingham is the Norwood neighborhood, in a transitional area between the grid and the more early Twentieth Century “suburban” communities in the hills.

There is lots of good news happening in this neighborhood, with many homes being rehabbed and other at least being stabilized.

It was laid out in 1910 by the Birmingham Realty Company, and named after a friend of the developer.

As to be expected, housing styles popular in the early Twentieth Century predominate.

This house is abandoned, and it really is the exception, below.

This house is unique, and is owned by a woman who runs a store next to the manse. From what I learned, she is in the process of rehabbing the house.
