Our Lady of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church is located on Tudor Avenue at Brown Road, just southwest of St. Charles Rock Road in Overland. It was founded in 1915. The present church was consecrated in 1948.
It’s a classic example of the Lombard Romanesque Revival that was inspired by the architecture of churches I’ve seen before in Milan, Italy, and other surrounding cities.
It’s been simplified and more stylized, as one would expect of a church constructed in the early Twentieth Century.
The campanile is interesting, as it possesses a modern sculpture of the Virgin and Child.
Note how the brick has been patched around the statue.
The neighboring schools and convent work well architecturally, though they are constructed in a more modern style.
Our Lady of the Presentation refers to the New Testament Apocryphal story of Anna and Joachim taking the Virgin Mary to the Great Temple in Jerusalem. One of my favorite depictions is by the Sixteenth Century Italian painter Federico Barocci, still on display in the right transept of the Chiesa Nuova in Rome, the home church of the Oratorians.

I just discovered this surprising church a few weeks ago. It’s in immaculate condition inside and has some very beautiful features. I ran into the main caretaker/custodian and he said the school next door was condemned due to asbestos. He also said the community is strong there.
this is for presention parish, off Brown Rd, Saint John MO from Mrs Angie Hohlt\I live across street from ole Holy Trinity and I am trying to leave message for Mrs Pat Pace or Kevin and Sandy H. as follows, Santa Anna Saint Ann high rise Building to close Jan 29 2024 and there are 14+ floors of alot of Seniors without a place to live…thought b/c if Pat and Sandy knew, they may network within your Roman Catholic Diocese ? sorry I am Lutheran so do not know correct terminology, but I do know this about pat and sandy, they are super good at finding ways to help.
