The first post-World War II subdivision we’re going to look at in Florissant is Paddock Hills, located behind the Church of the Master off Parker Road.

If you look closely below, you can see the famous Minoru Yamasaki-designed main terminal of Lambert International Airport, but with only three bays. Remember, a total of six were planned, but they only were able to complete one more for a total of four.

Hi Chris, thanks for doing these. Those midcentury homes look really slick furnished with midcentury furniture! Do you know if there’s any significance to the “flat top” homes near St. Ferdinand Park. I saw from old maps it appears to be one of the earliest post-War developments. They are jus so unique and you don’t see them anywhere else (that I know of).
i grew up in paddock hills parents moved here 1961 .the rooms that vinyl fooring were the family rooms, with the fireplaces.the other rooms in the homes were hardwood flooring ,carpet was a option. the homes in the pics in b/w were the last homes built in paddock hills .there is more pics on mo historical site . yes mid century at its best in florissant mo .i still live in paddock hills im 66 now ….
Interesting! My aunt and uncle lived there and I always loved visiting. Do you know if Robert Elkington was the architect for this subdivision? Thanks.

I do not know.
That star-burst chandelier is the same, or very similar to the chandelier in our home in (what became known as) Chesterfield.
Cool!
Love Cold Water Cemetery. And good to see the Paddock Hills homes.
Thanks,
Ron

Do you know where or if I could get the original lot survey map for plat 7?
Terri, if those existed, they would be available at the St. Louis County building in Clayton. But make sure to call before going down there.
