San Francisco Avenue Between Fair and Red Bud Avenues, Penrose

I thought I would choose a single street in the Penrose neighborhood, San Francisco Avenue, and take a look at its entire stretch, starting at the east end at Fair Avenue by Fairground Park and head west.

I think this neighborhood is just really beautiful, and not as old as one might think.

These two-families date from 1928 to 1930, meaning they are not even one hundred years old yet. As usual, they have the same floorplan but front facades that are unique to create a rhythm without boring the visitor.

Crossing over Harris Avenue, we have another unique house, which in this case is a duplex, and it stretches far back on its lot.

Now bungalows take over the streetscape. The house below is from 1941.

While there’s a latecomer from 1958.

Then a two-family appears at the corner with Red Bud Avenue.
