I’m not a big fan of the way the streets are blocked off, particularly because in St. Louis politically it’s pretty much impossible to get these sorts of things repealed. If the current residents really do like the way the street grid is broken up, then that is fine, but I know in my own neighborhood there are various weird traffic calming measures from decades ago that no one likes, and no one can remember who originally proposed. But I digress; the houses on Westminster are a stunning mix of eclectic styles, and they begin to show the move away from red brick on the front facades of houses.
Skinker Debaliviere is one of the worst offenders when it comes to closed streets. I think a huge improvement would be to open most streets in this neighborhood. At the very least they need to get rid of those blockades in the middle of the intersections that force u-turns even if they don’t allow traffic from Delmar blvd.
